Remove closed accounts from list of accounts to transfer to/from

I looked through Trello and here, and didn't see this so I'm posting.

I came across this after importing from YNAB4. I have a number of closed accounts for one reason or another all of which imported from YNAB4. They were imported correctly as in they are in the "closed account" drop down menu. However they still show up in my list of accounts that I can transfer to/from. I'm thinking these shouldn't be there 1) because it's a list of accounts I don't need in my way and 2) so moving money into closed accounts isn't even an option.

I actually don't think this is a bad thing.

I used closed accounts in YNAB4 to group together accounts that I don't frequently use, but still periodically use. Mostly various checking or savings accounts that I open for a short period of time to earn a sign-up bonus. Once I am done with the account, I move all the transactions into the main savings account I use and then delete the account.

If I could group accounts within the budget accounts or off-budget accounts section, I could do exactly what I would like. Since I cannot, I used the closed accounts group as a way to split my budget accounts into two groups.

Another vote to remove them, or even better have the option to remove them.

I also noticed this after importing as I had several closed accounts. For now I have prefixed all my closed accounts with zz so they drop to the bottom of the list, better than it was.

Since these are accounts you use, by default aren't they open (not closed)? When you're finished with them you can close them. If you want them again in the future open them back up again. Maybe I'm missing something with your use of closed accounts.

I don't use the closed designation because the accounts are actually closed. My budget accounts include my checking account and my various credit cards that we record spending on. My "closed" accounts include my savings account, and various checking/savings accounts used to earn bonuses. The reason I use these accounts as "closed" is because I would like to be able to easily see the subtotal of the amount left in my checking account if I had to pay off all my credit card balances at this moment. I try to keep the checking account balance high enough to cover all outstanding credit card purchases, and push any excess to my savings account.

So my use of the "closed" account group is to easily subtotal my budget accounts into two different groups. If that was an option, it wouldn't matter to me. Currently, YNAB does not allow transfers to closed accounts, but it's always frustrating as I have to manually type the "Transfer : Ally Bank" into the payee field since it is not shown in the drop down.

That all makes perfect sense. I can see where being able to group "open" accounts into say "Spending" and "Savings" groups would be a nice feature.

I think what I'm going to do is only allow using transfers to open accounts. The intent of closed accounts is to preserve old history without cluttering your everyday entering of transactions which feels important to me.

Does it make sense to keep it alphabetical or sort it as according to the left nav (on budget sorted, then off budget sorted, like the account dropdown)?

EDIT I'm leaning toward the latter for consistency.

I would however like to add a +1 for grouping on or off budget accounts. Maybe a new feature request is in order.

I don't personally have a lot of open accounts, but I know many do. I can see where users could make good use of it and it would be a nice feature offered by Financier that is not offered by some others.

Quite understandable. You're working at least two jobs that I know of. 

Off the top of my head I'd say in the order as they are listed in the navigation bar.

I think I would prefer the order in my navigation bar, as I typically order them by frequency of use. However, alphabetical would make sense as well since all other payee dropdowns are alphabetical. I have no strong preference either way.

I would if the order used for categories is consistent with the budget order, than it would make sense to make the transfers consistent with the navigation bar.

Consistency is good.
