Sorry if this has been answered before. I don't think it has. Can someone explain to me exactly how the heat map report works, and what it's supposed to be telling me?

unimike

I am wondering same thing.

Hey @machei and @unimike,

Here is some of the initial discussion rationale on the heat map. Hope it helps.

Thanks for that. I get it now, sorta. I understand that it's a visual representation of income and expenditure by date as shown through gradient. I suppose as an overview, it's interesting, but I imagine that everyone's will sorta look the same--especially the red. I spend almost every day. Income happens less often and more regularly. Perhaps this report isn't as useful for someone with predictable income. It might be a little more useful if clicking the cell in question took you to the expense/income. That'd be a fast way to get to those big income/expenses if you wanted to know.

I like it as a visualization of ins and outs but you would also like to see others. Perhaps a histrogram with +ve above the X-axis (day/time) and -ve below?

The real power of this report will come when you can filter by category, etc.

It's mostly just an experiment of mine. :)
I am the Financier owner/admin/coder dude.

Oo, yes, that would make it better for sure. As a platform, Financier has such potential for awesomeness. Happy to be on board! Thanks for your hard work!
