Income for <future months>

First of all, I'm very happy Financier offers the option of Income for this month (Current Month) and Income for next month (Current Month + 1).

Going a step further, it would be fantastic if you could designate income to not be released to the budget until even further. (Current Month + 2, +3, +4, +5,... up to say 12?)

Not sure how easy that is to program, but that is what many users complained about this style of "buffer" in YNAB4. Mostly for users who were paid less frequently than month or those paid late in the month.

I would use something like this for bonuses, tax returns, and unexpected income, sending the money to a coming month where a large expense, like a vacation, is known to occur. I know I could put the money in a category immediately after receiving the funds, but it would be good incentive to not spend the money on something else if I don't have "access" to it.

Yes I fall into this category. I get paid once per month on the last day of the month. If I want to enter my paycheck on the actually day it hits my bank my income to budget options in YNAB4 (and Financier) are the current month which only has one day left or the next month which is already budgeted. To get around this I end up entering the transaction for the next day (the first day of the next month) and categorize it as income for two months away (i.e. paid Oct 31, enter it in the register as 11/1 and income for Dec).

I have a trello card already over here:

I will consider this, although you can replicate this functionality by having an "income" category and pulling/pushing to that category as needed.

I want to avoid making it too complicated for new users/feature bloat, if that makes sense. :)

How about simply adding a third "category" of "Custom Date"  where the user can simply input a date.  Keep current month and next month, obviously.  That would be useful for people who are budgeting more than 2 months out, and would dovetail nicely with the multi-month view, IMHO.
Understanding does not imply agreement.
Acceptance does not imply agreement.
Disagreement does not imply conflict.

Alex

I was thinking about that. :)

Definitely doable.

Yup. I think that's the ideal solution.
