Is there a minimum time the account must be open to avoid clawback?

You must keep 15k for 30 days, and then it takes about 90 days for the bonus to be paid. That article recommends downgrading the account, and then closing it after another 30 days.


If you don't keep 10k for the 90 day waiting period, you have to pay a $25 per month fee. [size=78%]So really, it's 15k for 1 month, 10k for another 3 months, and then wind down over the course of the next month.[/size]


This is one of the easier and better sign up bonuses I've seen.

I opened my account last week. Since there is a Citibank literally a block from the office, I did it in person because I wanted to see if they did currency exchange because I have about $200 in another currency and the fees at Travelex are high (I'm spoiled because I spent 3 years living overseas where I could get a great exchange rate by using an ATM that dispensed USD and then taking the cash to change at one of the money changers that was on every corner). It is a general Citibank service but varies branch to branch and this branch didn't  . Because the checking account doesn't offer interest, I was told that you can also open a savings account and put $5K in there and $10K in the checking account to at least get a little interest (it's something like 0.02%) during the waiting period as the requirement was for $15K balance in combined accounts.
