Title: Using Credit Cards in Financier and Pay the Statement Balance Off Each Month
Post by: Patrick on December 08, 2016, 06:29:49 AM
Hey Financier users,

Was wondering how people are setting up their credit cards in Financier if you are using them to just pay your normal bills.  It doesn't seem to work quite right if you are adding credit cards as debt.  Any tips on how you are doing this?

Since I pay my cards in full, I just record the starting balance as negative income and delete the pre-software debt category.

Joel, so I just added my credit cards as negative cash accounts.  Is that what you mean?

The type of account you classify them doesn't really matter as long as they are on-budget accounts.

What I'm referring to is changing the category of the starting balance to income, so that my available to budget is reduced by the amount from the very beginning. As opposed to have a negative pre-financer debt category that I needed to budget to.
