I was just curious. I know there are several budgeting software sites that have a software/app and a philosophy for how to use it best. I was just wondering if Financier also had this or if it was just focusing on the app, leaving the how up to the user. I get the zero-based budgeting/envelope system ideas, but are there any others?
I am not looking for another money guru. I think I'm over the "I know what you should do with your money" mentality ::). That being said, I want to keep learning, and am open to new ideas and ways of doing things.
I also think flexibility with the app is very important. I'm perfectly okay with some type of guiding philosophy, as long as the app is built with flexibility in mind.
The initial philosophy was to make a tool that I enjoy using and works for my own budget. lol :P
But now that there are many people using Financier, I think the philosophy for now is to not limit what you can do with it, yet not over engineer/make features that duplicate functionality on one way or another.
Sorry, that's pretty vague. :) Anyways.

Hey
@Alex I get that. Since you are the one designing the software it makes sense that you design it with your specific needs/desires in mind. The second you send this thing into the wild, everybody starts to ask about their own use cases. The fact that you are looking to make the software versatile and flexible is awesome.
I guess I was thinking along the lines of Financial Peace and the "baby steps," or YNAB and the 4 Rules. Is there some general principles for finances/budgeting that you had in mind. Not that you claim some class of guru-ship (made up word) on money. I was just curious to know/hear your thoughts on things that have are working for you.
Anyway. I am enjoying learning about and using the app. It's always fun to be in on something from the start.
