Other / Re: Still Using, still liking it !!!!
August 21, 2017, 10:13:39 AM
I still use it too. I've been able to pay down a ton of debt and save for a house that we'll be closing on soon. So its effective. That said, I'd like to see it actively maintained or a more active community.

I don't have the skills to contribute, unfortunately.

Announcements / Re: Status of Financier development
March 08, 2017, 11:53:18 AM
On reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/financier/comments/5witf8/fancier_mobile_app_or_alternative/) Alex says it wouldn't be too hard to create a google form as a workaround until a mobile web app is developed. I have no idea how a google form would sync with Financier's couchdb/pouchdb, but if someone could figure that out I imagine it would be of great use.

@Alex mentioned that the database is at app.financier.db but I have no idea how to send a "signal" to pouchdb's "changes feed" to update a certain budget.

Also, just in case anyone is curious I found a compilation of a ton of free, self-hosted apps on github. Found here:

Just started running #sysPass, a self-hosted, free password management software. Seems pretty secure. Anyone ever used it?

Bug Reports / Re: Export .zip Empty
February 08, 2017, 07:58:59 AM
Chrome version is: Version 56.0.2924.87.

Tried it again this morning at work and I get the .zip container, but no files therein. Since it works on my home computer I'm not terribly worried about it, but I figured I would report it anyway.

Just tried it on my mac at home and it worked fine. Weird, I'll have to check my chrome version at work.

Bug Reports / Export .zip Empty
February 07, 2017, 02:18:28 PM
When I try to export my budget I get a .zip file with nothing in it. Am I missing something?

Chrome, Windows
Couldn't find it on the Trello board (ctrl + f searched "export")
Version 1.5.1 (Feb 1, 2017)

I gave up and installed nextcloud, but maybe another time I'll mess with couchdb and reach out.

I removed owncloud and liked the idea of installing cozy cloud, but I'm a bit worried that it will interfere with the site I run off of the server. I run the site on wordpress with maria db /mysql and saw that cozy requires couchdb. Given my level of knowledge about this stuff, I'd rather not break something!

@olaix bummer! I wish the internets had better news for you!

@Alex the computers at work are pretty locked down, so I don't feel comfortable downloading putty or ssh-ing. The console that digitalocean provides is pretty laggy and I hate using my termux through my phone (but it works). So, shellinabox seemed like the best answer, but I may just have to wait until I'm home from work (probably the correct move).

@olaix bummer, have you ever tried https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/? They were always great when I used them.

@asromzek I'm going to try moving to nextcloud soon. Wish me luck.

Has anyone ever used shellinabox? Hard as I try I can't seem to get it up and running via a proxy / reverseproxy. I really have no idea what I'm doing, I just type what different blogs or forums tell me to type haha.

Debt / Re: I'm going to be a homeowner

@heyboots probably a bad heating element fyi. I just dealt with this. I fixed it DIY, it was cheap, but a pain.

Feature Requests / Re: Integration with Pocket Sense
January 04, 2017, 09:32:29 AM
I had never encountered Pocket Sense until now. This is exactly what I've been looking for as far as a one-stop way to download all of my OFX files. Thanks!

Excellent, thanks for the insight. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one. I'm considering one based on accounting and finances or web development. Both subjects seem interesting.
