Feedback / Re: Why did I pick "Financier" over "nYNAB" ?
« on: February 09, 2017, 12:40:05 PM »
Five big reasons for me:

1. The ability to enter future-dated transactions that I've already scheduled/committed to.
2. The ability to mark income for next month.
3. Walled off months that prevent you from stealing from the future when making adjustment's to the current month's budget.
4. No stupid Age of Money metric.
5. A giant middle finger to Jesse for abandoning many of his long-time users (to eventually sell the company, in my opinion).

I'm still using YNAB4 until scheduled transactions, ofx import capabilities, and the mobile application are working for Financier though.

Wot he said (but not 5.!)

Bug Reports / Category Click Through - exception
« on: February 05, 2017, 11:11:16 AM »
I have a category which consists of an input and an output each month. A debit fully franked by a credit. I keep it this way as an aide memoire (my daughter pays me some money and I pay a bill for her with it).

The new "click through" on the budget screen does not work with two underlying transactions like this that net off to zero.

Not a big issue but perhaps something to tidy up?

EDIT - sorry have only just noticed that this duplicates a post in Feature Requests!  ::)

I am using Financier in an App on my Mac (made from Chrome using Coherence - http://www.bzgwebs.com) I like having a dedicated App rather than using a web browser.

I thought this would mean I could no longer use Stylish and "my" beloved Blue Theme. To my surprise, after rummaging in Preferences - and from there adding the Stylish extension and Blue theme  to my Financier App -  it is all working beautifully.

This is fantastic - actually quite a major "upgrade" in my book! Thank you Alex.

Nice idea - which I have stolen for myself!
Thank you

@machal
I'm switching full time to Financier on 1 February when my nYNAB sub expires - just using the mobile app to view category balances for now, rather than making transaction entries on the go.

(I use a lot of cash, still... but even with credit, I input at time of purchase... it's awesome to be able to do that, especially since I don't let my bank anywhere near my finance app).
 :)

Yes - understood in your scenario. I barely use cash at all - just gather up my slips and enter when I get home. Its a habit now so does not seem painful.

Scheduled transactions can then be added once Alex is ready.

I use reporting about once a year (tax etc) so I can live without that in the shorter term.

Slightly nervous but on the whole feeling good about taking the final plunge!

Yes Alex does a great job but I must admit it is the "one man show" thing that worries me. Is there absolutely no back-up should our worthy dev become unable to work on the software (long or short term)?

I do very much understand this concern. I am hopeful it will matter much less once the key promised priority developments are in place (for me personally that means scheduled transactions and a usable mobile) - so long of course as the online sync engine and store can be kept in operation.

Feature Requests / Unreconciling a Reconciled Transaction
« on: January 27, 2017, 08:40:12 AM »
I hope I am not raising something the solution to which should be obvious!
1) I had two transactions of the same value today
2) I accidentally used the wrong transaction to reconcile my account balance
3) I tried to remove the reconciliation "marker" but could not
4) In the end I had to delete the incorrectly reconciled transaction and start again.

Was there a quicker way or can this be added to the feature requests please?

My nYNAB renewal is due in a couple of weeks so I may just cancel and trust Alex to come up with the goods in Q1  ;D
My nYNAB renewal is also due in a couple weeks. I changed it from annual to monthly. I'll pay the $5.00 per month until Financier has scheduled transactions and a mobile app.

Yes indeed - on reading your previous post - I did that initially. But now I'm feeling braver (or am an idiot :-\)
btw I understand that the monthly option is no longer available for new or lapsed subscribers

Agreed - for now I have just made a list of my scheduled transactions in my task manager and enter them on the day they arise. But this does of course cause a significant amount of unnecessary data entry.
I know Alex has it at the top of his list. My nYNAB renewal is due in a couple of weeks so I may just cancel and trust Alex to come up with the goods in Q1  ;D

Financier in Safari also works with Stylish (1.9.2) and the Blue Theme code.

However, the Account list font is very "pixelated" and faint in Safari (with or without Stylish). Any thoughts on a line of code to fix this please? Chrome is just fine.

Gonna miss it in the mobile version!
